Posted on June 12, 2005

It looks like filmmaker Doug Liman had nothing to worry about, after all. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the film about married assassins hired to kill each other starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is estimated to rake in $51 million in box office receipts in this opening weekend, easily beating the competition.

It is not easy to predict how hot tabloid stories will impact a movie release, but they always make the team behind the films very nervous. They'll find out on June 29th.
