Posted on July 9, 2014

The National Portrait Gallery had press previews today for its new Virginia Woolf: Art, Life and Vision exhibit which opens to the public tomorrow. The exhibition showcases the life of one of England's most important twentieth century writers.

The exhibit was created by art historian and biographer Frances Spalding who went to great lengths to locate portraits, never before seen photographs and a great deal of archival material.

Photographs by May Ray and George Charles Beresford, as well as photos taken with family, friends and colleagues help illustrate the life of the brilliant writer and activist. There are also paintings, letters, diaries and books on display. Information on the Bloomsbury group, the intellectual salon hosted by Woolf and her sister Vanessa Bell on Thursday evenings, beginning in 1905.

The exhibition is open to the public from July 10th through October 26, 2014, at the National Portrait Gallery in London. You can find more information about the exhibit, including ticket information here.
