Navy SEAL Who Wrote Book on Bin Laden Raid May Face Probe

Posted on August 27, 2012

Reuters reports that the U.S. Navy SEAL who authored a book about the raid in Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden may face a Defense Department probe. The book, No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden, was written under the pseudonym Mark Owen.

It is slated for publication on September 11, 2012. It is currently the #1 bestselling book on Amazon.com.

The Christian Science Monitor reports that the Fox News identified the author of the book as retired Navy commando Matt Bissonette just a day after the book was announced.

Special Operations Command spokesman Colonel Tim Nye says the Navy SEAL could be endangered by being identified and active SEALs he worked with could also be exposed.
