Scholastic has released the cover of the upcoming illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The illustrated hardcover edition of the first novel in the Harry Potter series will arrive in stores on October 6, 2015. Scholastic says it plans to publish fully illustrated editions for each of the seven titles in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. It will publish one new illustrated edition each year.

The cover shows Harry Potter on Platform 9 ¾ as the black and red Hogwarts Express is arriving. Harry and his fellow wizard students and their familiars are waiting to board the train with their luggage. Harry has his snowy owl named Hedwig with him on his luggage cart.

The illustrated editions were first announced in January. You can see more images from the upcoming illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone here in our previous post. This new edition will definitely be a popular holiday gift.

Jim Kay created the illustrations for the Sorcerer's Stone. He won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2012 for his illustrations in A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. He studied illustration at the University of Westminster.
