New National Gay Magazine Launches

Posted on March 25, 2005

Scene is a new national magazine written to reflect the lifestyle of the 25+ gay man. An editorial mix of news, human interest, gay celebrities and fashion, Scene covers the popular culture of the international gay community six times a year. Mark A. Lund and Lois Elfman announced the launch. Comedian/actor Mario Cantone, who recently concluded a successful run on Broadway with Laugh Whore, is the inaugural cover subject.

"Our goal with Scene is to bring to life the people and issues that make up our community through an editorial mix of news, human interest and celebrity that reflects the diversity of our target market," said Mark A. Lund, publisher of Scene. "When you have smash television shows like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, millions being spent launching gay-specific networks, and countless events and fundraisers that target this ever-expanding market, the time to launch a magazine that reports on the community as a whole could not be more timely."

The premiere issue of Scene will have a guaranteed distribution of over 30,000 with a combination of newsstand sales and event marketing. Editorial coverage ranges from gay celebrities and other notables attending events around the world, to features and profiles from stage, television, fashion, entertainment and advocacy. Scene's premiere issue will also chronicle the start of the political campaign of Brian Ellner, who is running for Manhattan borough president. Johnny Weir, who recently won the men's title at the 2005 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Portland, Oregon, gives his first interview to a gay publication.

Scene will be published by Lund Entertainment, Inc. with Mark A. Lund (Publisher), Lois Elfman (Editor-in-Chief) and Marcus Gemma (Chief Creative Officer) as its principal partners.
