Nicholl Fellowships Competition Has Begun

Posted on March 23, 2007

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' annual Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition is underway. Up to five $30,000 fellowships will be awarded through the program later this year. The Fellowships are awarded to writers who agree to complete a feature-length screenplay during the fellowship year.

To qualify for the Fellowship, you must not have earned more than $5,000 from the sale or option of a screenplay or teleplay or received a fellowship or prize of more than $5,000 that includes a "first look" clause, an option, or any other quid pro quo involving the writer's work. To enter, you submit an application, a copy of a completed screenplay in English and the entry fee of $30.

The Academy takes no rights to the works of Nicholl fellows. You can find applications at the Academy's website at www.oscars.org/nicholl.
