Nora Ephron Dies at 71

Writer, director and author Nora Ephron has died at the age of 71. Nora battled leukemia for a number of years, but according to Deadline, she kept her illness a secret. The multiple Oscar nominee was responsible for many hits, including Silkwood, Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail and Julia and Julia. Nora's close friend, Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen told the L.A. Times that she died at New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she was being treated for acute myeloid leukemia and pneumonia.

She was a journalist, an essayist, a bestselling nonfiction author and a tireless supporter of women's rights. She was an amazing writer and director and always made us laugh and cry with her work. She will be greatly missed.
