Norman Davies Discusses His New Book, Vanished Kingdoms, and the Potential Fall of the Eurozone

As the Eurozone teeters on the brink of dissolving, one author thinks that the answers about what will happen lie in the past. Oxford Professor Norman Davies chats with The Telegraph about his new book, Vanished Kingdoms: The Rise and Fall of States and Nations, which is a history of European states that seemed strong, but which vanished over time: the USSR, Galicia, Eire and many more have all disappeared from the map. Now, it looked like the Eurozone may face the same fate.

Professor Davies says that the priorities in the past were very different than they are today, so one must be careful when analyzing why things happened in the past. He says the stories of vanished states, such as the Soviet Union, reveal the fragility of our current world. Our world may seem permanent, but history shows that is simply not true. Take a look:
