NSA Spied On Tens Of Millions Of Americans

Posted on May 11, 2006

Politicians and anyone who has a brain is absolutely livid over the news that President Bush's domestic surveillance program was used to spy illegally on tens of millions of innocent Americans.

CNET reports that Democrats have been energized by reports of public outrage and are now taking aim at the surveillance program.

Senator Patrick Leahy says, "We need to know what our government is doing in its activities that spy upon American. The Republican-controlled Congress has failed in its oversight responsibilities to the American people."

CNET says Bush has defended the giant data-mining program. He says, "We're not mining or trolling through the personal lives of millions of innocent Americans. Our efforts are focused on links to al Qaeda and their known affiliates. So far we've been very successful in preventing another attack on our soil."

Rep. Edward Markey, a Massachusetts Democrat, says the nation has reached a "privacy crisis." A point of privacy crisis? I'd say it's a point of no privacy at all, if this outrageous exercise of illegal executive power isn't stopped in its tracks immediately.
