Oprah Winfrey Writing Memoir, Launching Book Imprint

Posted on December 3, 2015

Oprah Winfrey is finally writing her life story. She's already working on the first draft of the book which will be published by MacMillan imprint Flatiron Books. The memoir is set to hit bookstores in January, 2017. The memoir will be titled The Life You Want and will be one of the books in Oprah's new book imprint for MacMillan. The new imprint doesn't yet have a name. The new imprint will publish nonfiction titles.

The Life You Want will give a no holds barred look at the billionaire philanthropist's rise from humble beginnings to becoming one of the world's most powerful women. Oprah said of the project, "All of my experiences, even the painful ones, have been there to teach me something about life. I’m still learning and I hope my story inspires other people to live the highest, fullest expression of themselves." Oprah says she will share stories from her life that she hopes will help inspire people to live their best life. She will impart the knowledge she's gained over her career to help people get back on track when they feel their lives are not going in the right direction.

Bob Miller, president and publisher of Flatiron Books, said, "We're deeply honored to publish The Life You Want, which is such a remarkable combination of Oprah's life story and the lessons we can all draw from it for our personal growth. We're also thrilled to give a home to Oprah's imprint titles. We all know how extraordinary Oprah's instincts are when it comes to choosing books, instincts borne of her lifelong love of reading and the power of the written word."

Oprah's new book imprint will release several new titles a year, each personally chosen by Oprah. The new imprint is a logical extension of Oprah's brand. She loves books and reading, and this is the perfect way to expand her reach. As for her memoir, that is going to be an immediate bestseller, especially with the promise of untold stories.
