Oprah Re-Launches Her Book Club, First Pick is Wild by Cheryl Strayed

Posted on June 1, 2012

Book publishers got some good news today. Oprah Winfrey has relaunched her Oprah's Book Club, calling it Book Club 2.0. Her first pick is Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed.

The new book club will focus heavily on ebooks and interactivity. You can buy the regular book and interact with Oprah and the author on Twitter and Facebook. The special-editions of the book have Oprah's and the author's notes included with the text. There are also interactive features, so you can share your favorite passages and comments with other readers.

In this video, Oprah explains what made her choose this book and why she decided to relaunch her book club. All we could think was: "This woman can sell a book like nothing we've ever seen." We were ready to hit the "buy" button long before she finished her pitch. Take a look:

Starting Monday, June 4, 2012, at 12:00 p.m Eastern time, the special Oprah's Book Club 2.0 Editions of Wild -- with exclusive content including a reader's guide and Oprah's notes on her favorite passages -- will be available for the Kindle, the Nook and at the Apple ibookstore.
