Oprah Winfrey Announces First Children's Book Selections for Oprah's Book Club

Posted on December 11, 1997

Oprah's Book Club became a family affair this week with Ms. Winfrey's announcement that for the first time ever the Book Club will be targeting young readers -- and the titles she has selected are the first three books in Scholastic's "Little Bill" series by Bill Cosby.

The Little Bill Books for Beginning Readers by Bill Cosby are a series of easy-to-read titles for young readers published by Scholastic's Cartwheel Books. The first three titles, "The Meanest Thing to Say," "The Best Way to Play" and "The Treasure Hunt," all use Bill Cosby's signature combination of humor and expert storytelling to address such universal topics as honesty, creativity and friendship.

Bill Cosby is represented in his business relationship with Scholastic by his longtime agent, Norman Brokaw, Chairman of the Board of the William Morris Agency.
