It's been more than a year since Oprah Winfrey chose a book for her Oprah's Book Club 2.0. But the wait is over because Oprah has found a book that she's really, really excited about. The book is Ruby by Cynthia Bond.

Oprah released a video in which she discusses why it took her so long to pick a new book for the club. She also shares her infectious enthusiasm for the title. Oprah says, "Wow!! Wow!! I can't even express how excited I am about the announcement of this book." As for why it took her so long to select a new book she explains, "I was searching for The One. I've never been happier to tell you about a book I have found. The book is Ruby by Cynthia Bond.

Oprah really is thrilled about this one; she just can't stop talking about it. She says, "I've never read a book like this before. I, who've read a lot of books, have never read a book like this before. To say it's deep doesn't really describe it. This is profound...at times I couldn't turn the pages fast enough and at times it was like wow, I gotta take a break from this. The prose is gorgeous. You are going to want to spoon feed it to yourself."

That's good enough for us -- sold! So what is the book about? The novel tells the story of a In her interview with the author, Oprah describes the book as "a love story, a ghost story, a story about the legacy of racial injustice and sexual abuse." Ruby is a beautiful woman who has been reduced to wandering the streets of Liberty Township, Texas (an all-black town) barefoot and dirty. Townsfolk think she's crazy, but that's not what's going on.

The story slowly reveals how Ruby came to be what she is today. She is complex woman who has the ability to see ghosts. She fights the memories of being sexually abused as a child. But the story is not all dark: there is lightness, too. Here is Oprah talking about her new find:
