Oscar Winner Michael Arndt Has Written Screenplay for Star Wars: Episode VII

Posted on November 8, 2012

Deadline reports that Oscar winning screenwriter Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) has written a treatment detailing the next three Star Wars films. Arndt wrote the treatments for George Lucas, before he sold LucasFilm to Disney. Disney is in pre-development for the seventh live action Star Wars film, which Arndt has already penned. George Lucas will be the creative consultant on the film.

When Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the $4 billion purchase of Lucas Film, he referred to Arndt's detailed treatments for taking the franchise forward, although he didn't mention Arndt's name. Iger said, "We've got a lengthy treatment that comes with this that we feel really good about and the film is in what I'll call early-stage development right now." Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill have all expressed interest in the project, but no details of the story line have been announced.
