``While we were able to reach one of the largest teen audiences, unfortunately we were unable to achieve similar success with the advertising community,'' says Walter Anderson. ``Although many of the nation's finest newspapers responded enthusiastically to react,` our investment of time and capital resources did not meet our financial goals.''

The interactive news and entertainment teen magazine is distributed during the academic year by 225 newspapers mainly through ``Newspapers in Education'' programs. react has circulation of more than three million. react.com contains editorial content which complements articles in the magazine. react magazine and react.com were founded simultaneously in 1995.
