Posted on November 19, 1997

PC World Online announced the IDG Games Network; a new, five-channel online service dedicated to all things game-related. The "Games Network" will go live on December 1st.

Hardcore and casual gamers alike will find the latest news, reviews, previews, demos, and tips, as well as community-driven features such as chats and live events, in a techno-rich environment. Unique to the Games Network will be its comprehensive hardware reviews and Test Center results that provide PC and console gamers an expert perspective on the market's hottest joysticks, video boards, PC systems, and other game-related items.

According to PC World Online publisher Thomas Gewecke, Games Network incorporates all of the hugely popular game-related content currently produced by IDG on the Web, including news, reviews, previews, tips and tricks from PC Games Online, GamePro Online, the PC World Online Games Channel, THE WEB Magazine Online, and TipWorld. In addition, a dedicated editorial staff produces daily news, reviews, and other content. With the launch of Games Network, all of IDG's gaming content will be showcased within one dramatic new, easy-to-use design and interface.
