Philadelphia Imposes Crazy $300 Blogging Fee

Posted on August 23, 2010

Philadelphia is not going down as a great city to blog. The city is requesting $300 from bloggers. The city calls it a "business privilege license."

NBC points out that the fee could make some people decide not to blog and that could be bad news for the city and Philadelphia businesses.

Local food blogger Colin Flatt says the tax is wrong because it blankets all blogs whether they are hobby blogs are for profit blogs. The tax is a bad idea because blogs can cover happenings in the city and some of these blogs could go offline rather than pay a stupid tax.

Forbes has more about the lousy idea.
