Posted on April 4, 2000

On the heels of its recent letter of intent to merge with Liberation Publications Inc., PlanetOut has acquired Out & About, whose properties include the travel newsletter, city guides, travel calendar and website for gays and lesbians. Out & About co-founders David Alport and Billy Kolber-Stuart will manage the development of PlanetOut Travel while continuing to run the existing Out & About properties.

``Billy Kolber-Stuart and David Alport have built Out & About into the definitive voice for gay and lesbian travel. This presents a tremendous opportunity for PlanetOut to serve more gay and lesbian travelers both online and offline through Out & About's award-winning newsletter, loyal readership and travel expertise,'' said Megan Smith, PlanetOut CEO. ``The acquisition also provides PlanetOut with the best talent in the market for turning PlanetOut Travel into the ultimate community for gay and lesbian travelers.''

``Out & About has found a great home on PlanetOut,'' said David Alport, publisher of Out & About. ``PlanetOut gives us the platform to greatly expand our travel-related content and utility. We are very excited about reaching a much larger audience and enhancing every part of their travel experience.''
