Polar Express Film Helps Book Sales

Posted on November 18, 2004

The Polar Express film starring Tom Hanks, is not quite meeting expectations at the box office. The film cost over $100 million to make and so far the film has only brought in about $50 million. However, there is still five weeks until Christmas and DVD sales could be great for the film. But the book sales have jumped from the film's release and the book, The Polar Express written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg, has now climbed to the top of the New York Times bestseller list in the Children's category. The book was originally released in 1985 and won the 1986 Caldecott Medal.
