Pope Benedict's New Book Says There Were No Animals or Angels at Jesus' Birth

Posted on November 23, 2012

Well, this is a bit of a shocker. Pope Benedict has written a new book called Jesus of Nazareth -- The Infancy Narratives which debunks a number of Christian myths. The book is a result of the pope's research over many years. The Pope says that the date of Jesus' birth is totally wrong, because the 6th century monk who created the current Christian calendar made a big math error.

Pope Benedict also says there were no animals and no angels present at Jesus' birth. Those are the best parts of any Christmas pageant, so this news is not going to go over well. But not to worry. The Vatican has assured everyone that the Pope is a traditionalist and it's fine to use animals and angels in a Nativity Scene.

CNN Vatican Correspondent Alessandro Speciale says this does not mean the Pope thinks nativity scenes should be changed. He says in a CNN report, "The pope is a traditional man and he doesn't want people at all to change their traditions."
