President Barack Obama Starts Using His Twitter for 2012 Campaign

A message on BarackObama.com says the President's Twitter account, @BarackObama, will be managed by Obama for America staff, now that the 2012 Presidential campaign is underway. The President's Twitter avatar also now has "2012" on it.

President Obama will also actually tweet himself sometimes, or at least directly tell someone what to tweet. Tweets from the President will be signed "-BO." Barack Obama admitted in 2009 that he had never actually tweeted, despite using the service during the 2008 campaign.

President Obama has the third most popular Twitter account according to the Top 100 chart on Twitter Counter. Obama trails Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
