Posted on May 28, 1998

Radical Entertainment Ltd. (Radical), an entertainment technology company, announced an alliance with The Walt Disney Company and ESPN to introduce ESPN Digital Games, a new line of video sports games. Under the terms of the agreement with Disney Interactive, Radical will develop, publish and market ESPN Digital Games worldwide. Buena Vista Home Entertainment, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, will handle North America product distribution.

"ESPN is one of the world's preeminent sports brands, having already translated exceptionally across a variety of media. Interactive entertainment is the next natural frontier for ESPN, which has become the worldwide leader in sports programming not only for television, but also in radio, home video, print, retail and the Internet," said Jan Smith, senior vice president of Disney Interactive.

The games will blend Radical's proprietary technologies and realistic gameplay with ESPN's humor and personality to create a unique gameplay experience. ESPN personalities such as Stuart Scott, Dr. Jack Ramsay, Steve Levy, Gary Thorne, Dan Patrick and Kenny Mayne will provide color commentary and analysis, just as they do on the air.
