Report: CNN in Talks to Acquire Mashable

Posted on March 13, 2012

Reuters reports that CNN is in talks to buy Mashable. Buying the blog would enable CNN to ramp up its technology and social media coverage. It would also give it millions of new visitors. CNN did not comment on the report. There are rumors the blog could be valued as $200 million.

The Daily Mail's CNN-Mashable story offers a more personal take on the acquisition rumors. They have photographs of Mashable founder Pete Cashmore (who uses his face as Mashable's avatar on Twitter instead of the Mashable logo) and call him the "Planet's sexiest geek." They also have photos of his girlfriend and the home he started the blog from.
