Republican Sen. Judd Gregg Withdraws Nomination as Commerce Secretary

Posted on February 12, 2009

Judd Gregg of New Hampshire withdrew his nomination as Commerce Secretary Thursday saying that he was withdrawing because he disagreed with the stimulus plan among other things. Gregg says he realized that it "really wasn't a good fit and that he wouldn't be comfortable doing this." The Atlantic says Gregg's decision caught the White House by surprise.
