Rick Riordan's Throne of Fire Gets 1.5 Million Copy First Printing

Disney Publishing Worldwide has announced it will launch The Kane Chronicles, Book Two: The Throne of Fire with a 1.5 million-copy first printing on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. The Red Pyramid, the first book in the series, has already sold more than one million copies since its publication in May 2010. The hardcover and ebook will be released simultaneously.

The Kane Chronicles series is a fantasy bringing ancient Egyptian mythology to life in a vivid modern-day setting. In the second installment of the three-book series, Carter and Sadie, offspring of brilliant Egyptologist Dr. Julius Kane, embark on a worldwide search for the Book of Ra, but the House of Life and the gods of chaos are determined to stop them.

In support of the release of The Throne of Fire, Riordan will embark on an eight-city tour including: Princeton, NJ; S. Portland, ME; Manchester, VT; Brattlebro, VT; S. Hadley, MA; Cape Cod, MA; Rhinebeck, NY; and San Antonio, TX.
