Book excerpts are a terrific way to get a feel for a new book and determine whether or not you might be interested in buying the book. Many book excerpts are from the first chapter but sometimes excerpts will be shared from interior chapters (usually in nonfiction books).

• Nobel Prize Book Excerpts - The Nobel Foundation has excerpts available online from recent winners including Peter Handke, Kazuo Ishiguro, Alice Munro and more.
  
  
• NPR Book Excerpts - NPR offers excerpts from its recommended books.
  
  
• New York Times Book Review - The New York Times Book Review includes first-chapter excerpts with some of its reviews. This digital-only feature was announced in 2019.
  
  
• Amazon Books - Amazon includes a Look Inside feature with many of its books that lets you read a portion of the book to see if you are interested in it.
  
  
• The Atlantic Book Excerpts - The Atlantic regularly features excerpts from books in its Book Excerpts section.
  
  
• Tor Excerpts - Tor offers excerpts from many of its books online.
  
  
• Chapter one - Washington post - The Washington Post offers a feature called Chapter One that lets you read the first chapters of selected new books.
  
  
• CBS Sunday Morning Books - CBS News offers book excerpts regularly on its Sunday Morning site.
  
  
• John Grisham Book Excerpts - John Grisham offers excerpts from many of his novels on his website.
  
  
• Eater Excerpts - Eater has excerpts available from some recently published food-related books.

• Hachette Excerpts - Hachette Book Group offers excerpts from a few dozen recent books.

Checking the website of your favorite author is another good place to find excerpts from books. Publishers websites also sometimes offer teasers or first chapters.
