S.E. Hinton Returns to Writing

Posted on August 24, 2004

S.E. Hinton is publishing again after a long absence due to writer's block. MSNBC reports that -- after a sixteen year absence -- S.E. Hinton, bestselling author of young adult books such as The Outsiders and Rumblefish, will publish a new novel. On September 15th, Tor will release Hawkes Harbor, the story of an orphan who faces adventures on the sea.

So, why the long absence from publishing? Apparently, writer's block hit hard. "I was having a hard time figuring out what to write," Tulsa, Oklahoma resident Hinton said in a statement. "I finally remembered one of the perks to writing is having adventures. So I set out to write an adventure story." The new book is aimed at adults.
