Saturday December 3rd is Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day

Saturday, December 3rd is Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day. Author and mother Jenny Milchman loved taking her children to story time at bookstores every week. But she wondered if all children had the wonderful experience of spending time at a bookstore. So one year ago she started a holiday that would give all children a chance to know the magic that a bookstore can bring. The idea went viral and more bookstores wanted in on the fun. This year is the second annual event. Now more than 250 bookstores in more than 45 states, three Canadian provinces, England, and the Gold Coast of Australia are participating.

Check out this handy map that shows participating bookstores in your areas. Each store is marking the day in its own way: some are having sales, some are doing giveaways, some will have refreshments, some will be doing story time. It's sure to be a fun and worthwhile experience.
