Trailer Video for Saving Mr. Banks Starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson

We just love this trailer for Saving Mr. Banks. The film is based on the true story of how Walt Disney convinced author Pamela Lyndon Travers (who wrote under the name P.L. Travers) to allow him to make a movie based on her Mary Poppins books.

Tom Hanks plays Walt Disney and spent hours with Disney's daughter who gave him access to nearly forty hours of film of her father doing interviews and talking about various subjects. Hanks also studied Disney's life and archival footage.

Travers, played by Emma Thompson, was a complex woman who was quite prickly on the subject of Mary Poppins ("Never call her Mary -- she is Mary Poppins!" she snaps at a Disney underling). She didn't want the books made into a cartoon or made too silly, and she hated all the songs the songwriters came up with. Walt had his work cut out for him, that's for sure. Jason Schwartzman and Colin Farrell also star.
