Screenwriter Dan Fogelman Gets $2 Million Upfront for Script

Posted on April 24, 2011

Screenwriter Dan Fogelman was paid just under $2 million, upfront, for a screenplay by Warner Bros. If the script is made into a film Fogelman will end up being paid over $3 million according to Deadline.com.

Tom Cruise is slated to star in the film, which does not yet have a title. Cruise will play a politician whose reputation is ruined by an affair.

Some of Fogelman's past screenplays include Cars, Bolt, The 12th Man, Tangled and Cars 2. He also wrote the screenplay for Crazy, Stupid, Love, which arrives in theaters in July.

Deadline does not fine the big that surprising: "It’s not surprising that Warner Bros would be aggressive. The studio paid $2.5 million for Crazy, Stupid Love and turned it into a much-buzzed-about summer film that will star Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling."
