Screenwriter Sues Warner Bros, Hangover 2 Filmmakers For Stealing His Autobiographical Script

Posted on October 20, 2011

Entertainment Weekly reports that screenwriter Michael Alan Rubin is suing Warner Bros. for copyright infringement, defamation, fraud and other causes of action in connection with the hit film The Hangover Part 2.

The screenwriter says the studio and producers stole his autobiographical script. In his R-rated script, he traveled to Japan to marry a Japanese woman, Tamayo Otsuki. They honeymooned in Thailand. The marriage ended during the honeymoon, and he went on a wild trip through Asia that he chronicled in the script called Mickey and Kirin. The screenwriter says his ex-wife gave the filmmakers his story.

He claims he was defamed by the movie. Apparently he says the only part of the film that didn't really happen was the surprising amorous adventure Ed Helms' character has in the back of a strip club while whacked on various pharmaceuticals.

Warner Bros. hasn't commented on the lawsuit yet.
