Posted on August 12, 2012

Self-published author Colleen Hoover just inked a two book deal with Simon and Schuster imprint, Atria Books. Colleen hit the New York Times bestseller list with her books, Slammed and Point of Retreat. The books will be released immediately as ebooks and later as trade paperbacks in September.

Hoover's first novel was Slammed, which she self published in January. It has steadily climbed the bestseller lists, finally hitting number 8 on the Times list. The novel tells the story of a young woman who falls in love with her neighbor who writes slam poetry. Point of Retreat was published in February and is now at number 18 on the Times list.

Judith Curr, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Atria Books, had this to say about the acquisition: "We are thrilled to welcome Colleen to Atria where we have prided ourselves on building the long term careers for our authors. The readers' reviews point to their love of Colleen's characters and storylines, which makes her the perfect addition to our women's fiction program." Atria said in the release that it won the rights after a heated bidding war.
