Posted on June 13, 2011

Carole King, 69, has signed with Grand Central Publishing to publish a memoir in April 2012. The memoir, Natural Woman, is named after one of Carole's best known songs. The book will cover King's career as a singer and songwriter.

Grand Central Publishing said in a statement, It will be a thrill to bring her life's journey to her devoted following who have waited so long to read her story in prose.

Carole King's songwriting career began at age 18 with "Will You Love Me Tomorrow." Some of Carole King's biggest songwriting hits include "Up on the Roof" and "You've Got a Friend." King's album, Tapestry, sold 10 million copies in the U.S.

King was named the #1 most successful female songwriter of the 1955-99 pop music era by Billboard Magazine in December, 2000. 118 pop hits were written or co-written by Carole King during that time period.
