Subject of Malcolm Gladwell's Next Book is Underdogs

Posted on July 16, 2012

Malcolm Gladwell has cut a new book deal with Little, Brown. Little, Brown will publish Gladwell's next book, David and Goliath in 2013.

Gladwell is the bestselling author of The Tipping Point and Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. He is also a writer for New Yorker magazine.

Some clues to Gladwell's next book can be found in an article he wrote for The New Yorker in 2009 called "How David Beats Goliath." In the article, Gladwell notes that David's victory over Goliath in the Bible story is not an anomaly. He says David's win quite a bit. He cites a study of wars fought between strong and weak armies that found the underdog won about 30% of the time.
