Survey Finds Few CEOs Plan to Blog

Posted on November 7, 2005

A new PRWeek/Burson Marsteller CEO Survey has found that 47% of CEOs find blogs valuable for external communications. But only 7% of the CEOs surveyed are blogging and just 18% plan to launch one in the next two years. If CEOs find blogs so valuable why won't they blog?

One issue raised just a couple weeks ago was the time factor -- but there are ways to solve the time issue. The more likely reason -- especially for publicly traded companies -- is legal concerns. Also CEOs of publicly traded and private companies may also see little upside in sharing the inner workings at their companies. They may find blog valuable but they don't necessarily want to join in on the sharing. Or the lawyers simply said no you cannot blog.
