The Onion to Move Its Editorial Staff From New York City to Chicago

Posted on September 22, 2011

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that The Onion is moving its editorial operation from New York City to Chicago. The Onion has an editorial staff of twenty people working in New York City. The move to Chicago will not take place until 2012. The corporate headquarters for The Onion is already located in Chicago.

The Huffington Post reports that some of the funny Onion writers have been surprised by the news. Not all may be willing to relocate to Chicago.

The Onion features editor Joe Garden told the HuffPo, "There's no indication of what's going to happen next. I don't think the writers have come to a consensus. Everybody is a little bit blindsided, and there are those who are determined to stay in New York."
