The Uzone has announced that it has acquired 28th Street Publishing, Inc., a multi-media company based in Hermosa Beach, Calif., which operates online and offline youth culture lifestyle magazines, marketing programs and e-commerce offerings. The acquisition allows The Uzone to expand its reach into the offline college market and enhance its online content, while allowing 28th Street additional exposure to the online market.

``28th Street is a great fit for us,'' says Marc Smith, interim CEO of The Uzone. ``It adds a fresh entertainment dimension to our current student offerings. We will continue to identify similar opportunities to grow Uzone.com and solidify our leadership position in the college market.''

28th Street will become a primary provider of entertainment and lifestyle content for Uzone.com and its network of websites. Currently, 28th Street has a readership of 120,000 and distributes its offline magazine free on college campuses, in record stores, coffeehouses, nightclubs and other areas where college students gather. 28th Street will continue to operate from the West Coast. The Uzone will expand the offline magazine to 15 new major markets representing over 500 campuses across the United States.

``Our mission is to become a bigger part of college culture by providing a greater variety of lifestyle products and events that appeal to the fun side of student life, '' says Jason Hollander, managing partner of 28th Street. ``By joining ranks with The Uzone, we can quickly expand our reach to a nationwide audience.''
