Tina Brown Talks Testosterone Poisoning
Posted on February 24, 2005
Tina Brown has a funny column in the Washington Post about how perhaps a woman's touch is just what the world needs right now. She writes:
Perhaps in the wake of the Larry Summers debacle at Harvard it's time for a study of the missing social gene in men. It's amazing how many executive disasters are caused by the way otherwise smart males crash around in the thicket of interpersonal relations.I think she has a point. I mean, Condi really was a hit with the French. And it's not like she moderated her positions or anything. But she was really polite when she talked--and she had great outfits. Isn't the art of diplomacy about saying the nastiest things in the nicest possible way? And it certainly doesn't hurt to speak the native language when you're doing it, either. There were so many blunders of tone in the first Bush term it needed Condi Rice in her Jackie O pearls to go and suck up to wounded European leaders in advance of the presidential visit.
