Tom Brady Reads The Four Agreements Before Start of Each Football Season

Posted on September 14, 2015

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady reads the same self-help book before the start of each football season. The book is called A HREF="https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1878424319/writerswrite">The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom. The author of the book is Don Miguel Ruiz, a Toltec spiritualist.

Brady may have needed the book more than ever this season coming off last year's Deflategate scandal. Brady managed to get his suspension overruled. He also had a successful opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He threw four touchdown passes to help lead the Patriots to victory.

Brady and his model wife Gisele Bundchen are both fans of The Four Agreements. Masslive.com reports that Brady told WEEI in an interview that he has been reading the book since he discovered it nine years ago. This year a particular mantra in the book about not taking things personally is hitting home for Brady.

Brady says, "I read a pretty cool book about nine years ago that is kind of a mantra for my life. One of the mantras in the book was 'Don't take things personally.' Because a lot of times it's not about you. It's about how others may feel about themselves and not necessarily about me personally, Tom Brady."

The Boston Globe reports that sales of the book have spiked on Amazon following news that Brady has been reading it annually.
