Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's Manuscript Up for Auction

Posted on April 2, 2013

Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's is going up for auction. The auction listing can be found here on RR Auction's website. The minimum bid will be $10,000.

The popular Breakfast at Tiffany's film, starring Audrey Hepburn, was based on Capote's novella. It was first published by Esquire in 1958 and then by Random House as part of a collection that included Breakfast at Tiffany's and three short stories.

The manuscript shows some of the revisions Capote made. One of the biggest changes was changing the heroine's name from Connie Gustafson to the iconic Holly Golightly. This name change is hand-noted over 150 times in the manuscript.
