Twitter Adds Emoji Support to Web Version

Posted on April 2, 2014

Twitter has added emoji support to its web version. The @Support Twitter account made the announcement, which says, "Twitter users love tweeting emoji from their phones - now you can view these emoji on web! #emojiparty."

The emojis don't show up when you try to embed a tweet. They show up as empty boxes instead:

It looks a lot more exciting and fun when the emoji characters show up. You can view some tweets about the newly activated emojis by searching emoji on Twitter. Many users are excited and using the words, "boxes be gone."
