Video: Ken Follett Discusses Writing Process with Katty Kay

Ken Follett has sold over 200 million books. His bestsellers include The Pillars of the Earth, Fall of Giants and Eye of the Needle. He talked about the writing process with BBC's Katty Kay.

Follett uses three computer screens when he is writing and editing. One of the screens has the first draft, one has notes from editors and other important people and the middle screen features the second draft.

Follett says about the second draft (which takes another year), "It sounds as if it's a chore that might not be essential. And sometimes my publishers want to publish the first draft but that's because their standards aren't as high as mine."
