Vintage Books to Publish The Snowden Files

Vintage Books has announced it will publish The Snowden Files, which it bills as the first book on Edward Snowden. There will certainly by many more books published about the man who leaked some of the government's biggest secrets.

Snowden leaked information about how the NSA is spying on American citizens. The book is written by The Guardian journalist Luke Harding. The full title is The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man.

Vintage Book says the story provides a through chronology of the events leading up to Snowden's historic leak. It also tells the story of the journalists who faced down pressure from the U.S. and U.K. governments to break the story. The book also tells of Glenn Greenwald's first tentative and secret online encounter with Snowden as well the Guardian group's first meeting with Snowden in Hong Kong. Reporters at this meeting were given code-phrases and were asked to leave their iPhones behind.
