Wal-Mart Bans George Carlin's New Book

Posted on October 29, 2004

Wal-Mart appears to be in a battle with comedians. Entertainment Weekly weekly reports that Wal-Mart has continued its trend of banning books by comedians. The latest book b to be banned is George Carlin for his book, When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?. Apparently Wal-Mart did not like the cover which shows comic George Carlin sitting down at dinner in Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper. The cover is obviously meant as humor with Carlin even wearing modern clothes as sits at the table holding a knife and fork.

Wal-Mart also recently banned a book from comic John Stewart called America: The Book. While not in Wal-Mart stores both of the books are being sold on the walmart.com website. It seems odd that what is deemed unacceptable by the retail giant at its bricks-and-mortar stores is perfectly fine to be sold from its online store.
