The Wall Street Journal and Simon & Schuster have announced the creation of Wall Street Journal Books, a new imprint to launch in 2000. The joint publishing effort expects to produce at least 12 titles a year that will originate from the writers and editors of The Wall Street Journal, with the first titles scheduled for publication in early 2001.
"With this new imprint, two of America's foremost publishing organizations, Simon and Schuster and The Wall Street Journal, can combine the talents and unique perspectives of many of the greatest journalists in the world to provide consumers with some of the finest, most timely books on business published anywhere," said Carolyn Reidy, President of the Simon & Schuster Trade Division.
Stephen Adler, an Assistant Managing Editor of The Wall Street Journal, will oversee the Journal's role in the venture, and Douglas Sease will serve as the Journal's editor for the series. Fred Hills, Vice President and Senior Editor, will edit the series for Simon & Schuster, while Bill Rosen, Vice President and Director of Reference Publishing, will oversee the imprint's activities.
In addition to publishing non-fiction works by individual Journal reporters, the imprint will create titles in subject areas including career development, education, and personal finance, addressing such subjects as investing, retirement and estate planning.
