Wally Lamb's Second Novel Selected as Oprah's Book Club Summer Selection

Oprah Winfrey announced that I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb (ReganBooks) is the Summer 1998 reading selection for Oprah's Book Club. Lamb's debut novel, She's Come Undone, became a #1 bestseller after that book had been selected as an Oprah's Book Club selection in February 1997.
"To have Oprah Winfrey choose my first book as a Book Club selection is an honor, so having her choose I Know This Much is True is almost miraculous," says author Wally Lamb. "There have been so many people who've read my first book because of her show -- I've really learned about the impact of her influence. Many folks would never have met Dolores Price without Oprah suggesting that they should. I'm very excited."
I Know This Much is True is an epic, multigenerational story of identical twins, that explores the reproductive bonds of destruction and the powerful force of forgiveness. Recently the book was optioned for a seven-figure sum by 20th Century Fox. The original number of books in-print was 250,000. Since the on-sale date of June 3, the book has been back to press 4 times. The new in-print total is 560,000.
