Want to Get Into a Good College? Polish Those Writing Skills

Posted on September 9, 2004

Mastering the skills and tricks behind multiple choice questions may no longer be enough to get you into college. You may have to master the skill of essay writing as well. According to this article in The Digital Collegian, "a writing component will be added to the SAT, which includes a student-written essay and multiple-choice questions."

Penn State and many other colleges plan to add the SAT's new writing component as an admissions requirement by 2008. David Gildea, an admissions director at Penn State, offered some good advice to Digital Collegian readers. "We are advising high school students not to panic," Gildea said. Gildeas don't panic advice should be comforting, unless of course, you are one of those students who was planning on receiving the answers from a friend by text messages. It's not quite as easy to text message an essay.
