Warner Bros. Buys Chasing Vermeer Film Rights

Posted on June 25, 2004

Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the movie rights of The New York Times bestselling mystery novel Chasing Vermeer. The book, which Newsweek called "The Da Vinci Code for tweens," is written by debut novelist Blue Balliett and illustrated by Brett Helquist, the illustrator of the Series of Unfortunate Events books by Lemony Snicket. Chasing Vermeer is a puzzle, wrapped in a mystery, disguised as an adventure, and delivered as a work of art. Filled with letters to decode and mysteries to solve, it contains a secret message, hidden in Brett Helquist's chapter illustrations.
