Warner Bros, DC Comics and Hasbro Announce Be The Man-Batman Contest

Urging kids to use their imaginations, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Comics and Hasbro, Inc. announced a writing contest as part of the year-long "Be the Man-Batman" national promotional campaign at Comic-Con International in San Diego (Comic-Con) during a press conference today. The contest invites children 18 years of age and under to consider life as the Caped Crusader and complete a 25-word or less written entry that begins, "I want to Be the Man, Batman, because..."

The first prize winners (5 winners from the United States; 3 additional from concurrent contest outside of the United States) will win a trip for two to Los Angeles; a VIP tour of Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, CA.; tickets to Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park; a ride in the Batmobile; and $250 in prize money. The trip will reach its climax as each first prize winner will get the chance to win the grand prize of $1 million at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Ten thousand second prize winners will receive the The Batman/Superman Movie videotape and 10,000 third prize winners will receive DC Comics comic books.

Entry forms and full contest POP displays will be available at mass market retailers beginning September 1998. The exact date of the Grand Prize trip will be announced at a later date, but it will be between June 1 and September 10, 1999. Winners will be selected based upon their originality, creativity and appropriateness to the Batman theme. First prize winners will be notified by mail on or before April 15, 1999.
