Posted on January 3, 2015
Weight Watchers has relaunched its print magazine, Weight Watchers Magazine, with a new look starting with the January/February 2015 issue. The first redesigned issue features a tray of lasagna on the cover with the words "Welcome to Delicious." The magazine will continue to provide recipes, food preparation strategies and weight loss advice. The company says the magazine will "creative ways to prepare and enjoy tasty, satisfying meals, both away and at home."
Theresa DiMasi, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, says in a statement, "Our mission is to help people change their relationship with food for good and part of that means restoring food to its natural place for what it really provides – energy, pleasure and a way to bring people together. The way we aspire to eat doesn't always match up with how we actually eat. Our goal is to help you make that aspiration real while recognizing that you don't want to spend all day in the kitchen and healthy can mean indulgent, delicious and enjoyable."
One of the sections in the new magazine, "Eat It Up," helps readers navigate restaurant and take-out menus. Another section, "Lost & Found," focuses on Weight Watchers members who have lost weight.
The relaunched magazine is part of an overall rebranding strategy from the company. Bloomberg reports that the initial response from investors was negative with the stock falling 13% on Friday. The stock drop is not good but there is still time for the redesigned publication to attract new readers on newsstands. The start of the year is typically when many people try new diets and try to improve their health and fitness.
